Teddy Afro

Every artist has a unique flavour he/she adds to music but there is an artist that is always at the top. In Ethiopia, there are a lot of artistes but we will just pick the top 10.

  1. Teddy Afro: His name is Tewodoros Kassahun Germano, who is known by his stage name Teddy Afro. He was born in 14th July 1976 in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. He’s a singer, songwriter and a philanthropist. He’s married to Amleset much and they have two children named Michael and Yemariam. He is popularly known for single titled “Ethiopia” which has over 19 million views on YouTube.
  2. Alemu Aga: Alemu Aga is a Begena mater who also a singer from Ethiopia. He was born in the year 1950. He was a professor of Beyena at Yared School of Music. In 1995 he launched an album in Gerfiny titled Ende Jerusalem
  3. Mahmoud Ahmed: Mahmoud Ahmed is an Ethiopian singer who was born on May 8th 1941, at the Addis Ababa City in Ethiopia. He’s from Gurage City in Ethiopia. In released his first single titled Mafquot New Yegodagn in 1971. Mahmoud is known popularly b the Tizita genre of the song he sings.
  4. Kiros Alemayeh: Kiros Alemayehu was born in Tigray Province Ethiopia. He was the only son of Mr and Mrs Alemayehu. He was born in the year 1948. Kiros Alemayeh was known as his songwriting and singing talent. He published his first album in Ras Theatre. But he died in 1994 from some health issues.
  5. Tadesse Alemu: Tadesse Alemu has a little issue on his date of birth. He was born in wollega City in Ethiopia. He sang Ethiopian cultural songs but he died in July 2007 after a brief ailment.
  6. Argaw Bedaso: Argaw Bedaso was first a deacon in an Orthodox Church in Ethiopia before becoming a traditional singer. He’s gained popularity in his country from 1957 till date. He’s married for over 45 years and has eighteen number of children.
  7. Eyasu Berhe: Eyasu Berhe has been the most popular and if not the most influential in Tigrigna province over the years. He was born on 11th of June 1956 and died on the 18th of January 2010. He conveyed messages during the Civil War in Ethiopia, which he did to mobilize the youth.
  8. Amir Dawud: Amir Dawud is a songwriter, poet-writer and melodist. He was born in the year 1977 in Mekelle, Tigray Province in Ethiopia. He died on the 1st of March 2019.
  9. Tamrat Desta: Tamrat Desta became very popular after the launch of his album titled anleyaym in 2004. H was born on 1st June 1978 and died on April 18, 2018, out of tonsillitis.
  10. Alemayehu Eshete: Alemayehu Eshete in a city called Jimma in Ethiopia in 1941. He genre of music was basically the Ethiopia type of Jazz. He had his first hit single title Seul in 1961.
